Sky Diving at Long Island
http://www.longislandskydiving.com/
This has been a crazy weekend. The weather was really good and we had planned for a sky diving jump. Im a real adrenaline junkie and have tried lots of roller coasters and crazy rides and other crazy stuff.. Having said that, there has always been one thing that topped my list of things to do, Skydiving. That is exactly what I did!!!
The venue was Long Island Sky Diving. There was a huge list of signatures you had to give. It stated "you cannot sue us if you are seriously injured or killed". Basically, you saw many signs that said, "WARNING Parachuting is a high risk activity which may cause or result in serious injury or death". They even video shot the last signature with a testimonial read on the video. After a 2 hour wait, we were called and the gear was set up and some instructions were given out.
The plane journey took around 15 minutes to get to the required altitude of 10,000ft, which is just under half the height of Mount Everest. My instructor as 'Julio Marques'. He was just amazing, he was very interactive and shot a great video of me. Once you get next to the exit, there is only one way to go, downwards. I wasn’t scared or nervous nor did I really care about all those warnings till the time I was sitting half way outside the plane and above the clouds. All I could see below was green land and blue water. I wanted to do was jump and dive at over 120 miles/h but it suddenly felt crazy. Few seconds later, that’s what happened. Out with a back flip and before you know it, you’re falling and diving inside clouds, spinning, shouting and laughing. At 4,000 ft, the parachute is released. Deceivingly for an instant, you think nothing happens but then you just shoot up. Everything was awesome, from the weather to the view to controlling the parachute. After around 7 minutes, it’s all over.
What can I say, it’s the best feeling ever without a doubt, just surreal
It still hasn’t sunk in, the whole fact of throwing yourself out of a plane. Maybe sometime during this week, it might. All I can say is that this thing is addictive and I would honestly do it again right now. Put it this way, if you do this, you can do just about anything!!!
Ahh, one sad thing. I have gone a bit deaf after the jump. I read it online, for some people it stays this way for a week or two after a sky dive :(

What a great New York skydiving experience! Thanks for sharing the experience. It is especially helpful to have forewarning about the temporary hearing loss, that is something I would never have equated with skydiving.
